Uranium can be traded for profit, crafted into sculptures, used to build cryptosleep caskets or to craft shield belts. It can be found in uranium deposits inside hills and mountains and mined accordingly. More commonly, it is extracted from deep underground with the deep drill.
Ore
Uranium ore comes in veins of 1 up to a possible 6. Every block of ore drops 35 uranium when mined.
