A delicious preparation of cocoa seeds ground together with sugar and vanilla. Very pleasurable to eat, but not very nutritious.

Description

Chocolate is a food item which provides a short-lived burst of nutrition, filling a colonist's hunger meter by 10% per unit consumed. Unlike most other foods, it also grants a bonus to Joy of 10% per unit.

Usefulness

The low nutritional value of chocolate makes it a poor choice to try to sustain a colony with, but its mood-boosting properties make it excellent for helping keep your colonists at risk of a mental break from snapping.

Your colonists will eat no more than 4 units of chocolate at a time, and they won't touch the stuff if there's any other food around (even raw food). Manually directing troubled colonists to eat chocolate is by far the easiest way to get them to do so.

Acquiring chocolate

Chocolate cannot be produced by your colonists. It can be obtained semi-reliably through trade with a bulk goods trader, and occasionally arrives in cargo pods.
