Bionic arm

Health item bionic.png

An advanced artificial arm. Silenced mini-servos give great strength, while the biogel nerve-link gives exquisite control. A lattice-dust healing system allows it to recover from damage. It is better than a biological arm in almost every way.

Bionic arms can sometimes be purchased from traders. A bionic arm can be installed on a colonist to replace a missing or damaged arm, including the hand. Once installed, it increases a colonist's manipulation by 20%. Therefore, two bionic arms provide a 40% increase in manipulation. A bionic arm's strength gives its bearer a melee attack of 9 damage when an attack uses that arm, compared to 5 damage from a natural arm.

Since bionic arms increase a colonist manipulation stat it is advised to add them to colonist with a high skill level on Cooking, Crafting or Medicine since those skill depend greatly on the manipulation stat. For example a level 20 cook with 2 bionic arms will get more meat and leather out of a butchered animal than a colonist with the same skill level but no bionic arms. Also a doctor will have better chances at a high quality treatment if it has increased manipulation stats.
