A capacity is a pawn's intrinsic capability to interact with the world in a certain way. It's measured as a percentage, with 100% being the baseline while 0% the complete inability to use this kind of interaction.
Capacities can be modified by certain factors, including ailments, diseases, drugs, injuries, missing parts, and artificial body parts. See hediffs for a comprehensive list.
Capacities can, directly or indirectly, impact the stats of a character, including other capacities. See each capacity page for more details.
The following capacities are critical for survival, reaching 0% in any of these is fatal:
- Blood Filtration
- Blood Pumping
- Breathing
- Consciousness
- Digestion
Some non-human pawns might lack specific capabilities, such as mechanoids not requiring to breath. For those cases, the capability is completely ignored and treated as 100% for calculation purposes. The exception is pain, which is treated as 0% instead. Additionally, some capacities have different names for different kinds of pawns. For further details, see the relevant capacity page.
