The Hi-tech research bench is the second and best research bench with the first one being the Simple research bench . A colonist with the researching task enabled will work here and provide research points for the selected, researchable technology.
If no colonist is designated for research, or there is no research bench, progress will not be made towards the selected technology. Researching allows the player to unlock more efficient ways to do certain tasks, leading to better attributes towards different parts of colonists' lives. Can be paired with a multi-analyzer to increase the speed of research.
The location of the reasearch bench is important for optimal researching. If placed outdoors it will have a 0.75 researchspeed debuff, and the Cleanliness of the room will also change the research speed, sterile *1.09, clean *1 and it is maxout with very dirty at *0.75
