The electric stove is a production bech used for preparing meals and psychite tea. It is the powered equivalent to the fueled stove.
Acquisition[edit]
Electric stoves can be constructed once the Electricity research project has been completed. Each requires
80 Steel,
2 Components, 2,000 ticks (33.33 secs) of work modified by the construction speed of the builder, and a construction skill of 4.

An active electric stove will generate some heat.
Analysis[edit]
Some sort of meal production is practically essential for standard pawns, due to the mood penalty and food poisoning chance of raw food, as well as the fact that cooking food increases nutritional efficiency. Unlike campfires and fueled stoves, electric stoves do not require constant wood. Even if using a wood-fired generator for power, an electric stove will typically be more efficient overall, since the generator produces an extra 650 W that can be used for any other appliance.
Any colonist that prepares a meal has a chance to contaminate it and cause food poisoning. That chance is determined by the colonist's stat for Food Poison Chance, which is determined by their cooking skill level. A level 0 cook has a 5% chance. A level 9 cook and above has a 0.1% chance, while extremely rare, it can still happen. A player would likely want to use the best cooker available to minimize food poisoning chances.
Vegetarian simple meals can be forced by removing all meat options from the simple meal bill. Vegetarian fine/lavish meals are their own separate bill, which require more resources than their regular counterparts.
Compared to nutrient paste[edit]
Nutrient paste dispensers require no cook, have better nutrition efficiency, and have zero food posioning chance, but nutrient paste meals provide −4 mood to standard colonists. Therefore, using nutrient paste is recommended for colonies with no good cook, or at the start of the game when both food and time are of short supply. They can also help control the spread of metalhorrors,
which can spread through cooked meals.
Nutrient paste dispensers will also prevent pawns from grabbing meals and eating away from a dining room. This will ensure that colonists get the mood boost and avoid eating without a table, at the cost of work efficiency when traveling far away.
The Eating nutrient paste: Don't mind precept
will prevent the mood buffs from eating nutrient paste, although pawns will still lose out on the mood buff from eating fine meals or lavish meals.
