Paragraph 3 (starting "A researcher at...") appears flawed. The "mean time" of 9.2 days is the average, all the values divided by the total number of samples. The "guaranteed" time to find a lump is, as I read it, the max - and that's listed as 8 days. One of these values is not mathematically possible. If, otoh, the "guaranteed" time (or the "mean time") is intended to mean something else, one or both needs to be rephrased. Albedo (talk) 20:40, 7 March 2022 (UTC)

So MtBs are defined in the code and used to generate a per day chance. You could potentially define a longer MtB to make it weighted such that most times it reaches the max and you get it after 8, but occasionally you get lucky and get it early.
That all said, its actually just wrong/outdated. Its 8 days guaranteed and a mtb of 4 days
I removed the unnecessary explanation of possible transport methods, along with the irrelevant mathematics. The average player is likely aware of how to use caravans if they are planning to use a long-range mineral scanner. Further, it is impossible to use a fraction of an elephant (or any other animal) for transport in-game, so references to numbers of required hauling animals should be rounded up to the nearest whole number, where such references are necessary at all.
Should be checked though.
Difficulty does affect Mining Yield it just doesn't appear to be on the wiki atm. 1.2x for peaceful down to 0.8x for losing is fun - the same as crop yield
Just to clarify. This is related to the amount of resources you discover with the Long range mineral scanner.
All's well. I've connected the dots.
