Lumber
Wood from trees or other fibrous plants. Useful for building structures and weapons. It is a good fuel for campfires and generators, and can be refined into chemfuel. In a pinch, a piece of wood can be used as a weapon or a leg.
Wood is a construction and crafting material vital in the early game.
Metals
An exotic metal-like fibrous substance with both organic and metallic properties. Bioferrite is produced by microscopic mechanites as they process organic material. In cases of disordered mechanite behavior, this happens in a chaotic, cancer-like way.
The material is known to interact with some types of psychic flows. If pressurized under specific conditions, bioferrite becomes extremely flammable, making it a useful fuel.
The most seductive metal of them all. While it is too soft to be of much practical use, it is strikingly beautiful and never tarnishes. Millions have died in attempting to feed the endless human thirst for gold.
Gold is a very beautiful and valuable resource.
Advanced spacer tech structural material. Plasteel is extremely strong due to its unique molecular structure.
Plasteel is the strongest material in the game. Commonly used for high tech items, especially ship engines and other modules, which are needed to build a spaceship to escape the planet and win the game.
This metal is mostly used as a commodity currency. It can also be used for making decorations.
Silver is a precious, uncommon material. It is recognized as a trade currency which all traders will readily accept.
An iron-carbon metal alloy used for building a huge variety of structures, weapons, and machines.
Steel is a raw resource, crucial throughout the game for different purposes, such as construction of various structures, and production of weapons and armor.
A dark, heavy metal. While it is best known as a fuel for nuclear devices, its extreme density and hardness also make it good for making certain weapons, armor, and ammunition.
Uranium is one of the rarest materials in the game. It can be used to craft powerful, but slow blunt weapons, and a required element in the construction of certain late-game constructions, most notably the end-game ship.
Stone
Blocks of solid granite. Granite is a very hard stone.
Granite is the strongest of all stone blocks and is best suited to build walls in the fighting area.
Blocks of solid limestone.
Besides being the second most durable stone type after granite, limestone blocks have no practical advantage over other stone blocks.
Blocks of solid marble. Marble is a soft, beautiful stone, known for being easy to sculpt.
Of all stone block materials, marble has the highest Beauty factor and stands alone as the sole stone to have a beauty bonus, and so is the best stone block to create art for your base. It is also a close second in terms of market value per unit of work, after sandstone, so is well suited to craft items for sale in bulk.
Blocks of solid sandstone. Sandstone is a relatively soft rock and chips easily.
Sandstone is the quickest stone type to work with, making it well suited for stone constructions that need to be built quickly. It also has the highest market value per unit of work so is the best stone type for crafting items for sale in bulk.
Blocks of solid slate. A dull-looking rock that chips easily.
The only advantage of slate blocks is that they are the least heavy. If for some reason you need to carry stone blocks or chunks in a caravan in bulk, slate might be the best choice.
A hard, green stone. Because of its beauty and rarity, jade is often used for ornaments and decorations. Its hardness and density also makes it a good material for blunt weapons.
Jade is a rare material with high beauty, but with little other purpose.
