A tube television is a recreation item that provides "Television watching" recreation to colonists in an area in front of it, with a power of 120%. It is functionally similar to other types of television.
Acquisition
Tube televisions can be constructed once the Tube television research is completed, using the Recreation tab of the Architect menu. Constructing one requires 80 Steel, 4 Componentss, 10,000 ticks (2.78 mins) of work and a construction skill of 7.
They can also be acquired through trade.
Summary
Pawns sitting on a chair or bed can watch a tube television for recreational purposes. It does not matter which way the furniture faces.
The flatscreen television has a Recreation Power of 140%. It is considered Television recreation.
Analysis
Any form of television provides another form of recreation to your colony. They are useful for bed-ridden pawns in particular, as the only other option rqeuires that another colonist talk to them. Flatscreen televisions and megascreen televisions provide more recreation power, but take up more space and power.
In general, it is not worth it to research television. Megascreen televisions provide stronger recreation, and are often carried by exotic goods traders and faction bases. Tube televisions can also be bought from the same sources.
