- Television
A flatscreen television that is more entertaining than a tube television, but still 1 tier lower than the megascreen television. Effective in a 5x6 area in front of the object (that is, 5 deep, 6 wide). Seats must face the TV. The flatscreen television has an entertainment strength factor of 140%.
Acquisition
Flatscreen televisions can be constructed once the Flatscreen television research project has been completed. They require 140 Steel, 16 Components, 40,000 ticks (11.11 mins) of work, and a Construction skill of 8.
They can also be purchased from Outlanders caravans and faction bases, or found in ancient shrines.
Summary
Pawns sitting on a chair or bed can watch a tube television for recreational purposes. It does not matter which way the furniture faces.
The flatscreen television has a Recreation Power of 140%. It is considered Television recreation.
Analysis
Any television provides another form of recreation to your colony. It is useful for bed-ridden pawns in particular, as the only other option requires that another colonist talk to them.
In general, it is not worth it to actually research televisions for the purposes of recreation. Megascreen televisions provide stronger recreation and are often carried by exotic goods traders and faction bases. Both flatscreen and tube televisions can also be bought from the same sources.
Flatscreen televisions can be used for resource compression, compressing 59.7 kg of 105 steel and 12 components into a mere 8 kilos. This allows you to carry 7 times the weight you normally would on a caravan, but means that you will lose 50% of the 140 steel and 16 components.
