Paragraph 3 (starting "A researcher at...") appears flawed. The "mean time" of 9.2 days is the average, all the values divided by the total number of samples. The "guaranteed" time to find a lump is, as I read it, the max - and that's listed as 8 days. One of these values is not mathematically possible. If, otoh, the "guaranteed" time (or the "mean time") is intended to mean something else, one or both needs to be rephrased. Albedo (talk) 20:40, 7 March 2022 (UTC)

So MtBs are defined in the code and used to generate a per day chance. You could potentially define a longer MtB to make it weighted such that most times it reaches the max and you get it after 8, but occasionally you get lucky and get it early.
That all said, its actually just wrong/outdated. Its 8 days guaranteed and a mtb of 4 days
