Television

A flatscreen television that is more entertaining than a tube television, but still 1 tier lower than the megascreen television. Effective in a 5x6 area in front of the object (that is, 5 deep, 6 wide). Seats must face the TV. The flatscreen television has an entertainment strength factor of 140%.

Acquisition

Flatscreen televisions can be constructed after the Flatscreen Television research has been completed, using the Recreation tab of the Architect menu. They require Steel 140 Steel, Component 16 Componentss, 40,000 ticks (11.11 mins) of work to make and a Construction skill of 8.

Analysis

The flatscreen television has an entertainment strength factor of 140%.

Flatscreen televisions placed facing hospital beds can allow recovering pawns to watch TV for recreational purposes. This can be very useful, as the only other option that bed-bound pawns have requires another colonist to talk to them, and joy-less colonists suffer terrible mood penalties.

Flatscreen televisions can be used for resource compression, compressing 59.7 kg of 105 steel and 12 components into a mere 8 kilos. This allows you to carry 7 times the weight you normally would on a caravan, but means that you will lose 25 percent of the 140 steel and 16 components.
