Summary[edit]
Analysis[edit]
Three Stabilizers protect the Cerebrex Core, and must be destroyed before the Cerebrex Core can can be "Studied". Once the Stabilizers are destroyed, the Core can be disabled by "studying" it.
When a stabilizer is destroyed, a retaliatory raid will occur.
Four Mechhive birthers are around the Cerebrex Core. Each birther regularly produces mechs that gather around the Cerebrex Core and eventually attack the player.
Mechs are produced every 6 to 14 hours. The higher the Raid Points, the faster the mechs are produced. Chart below. The first number is player raid points and the second is ticks between mechs spawning. So at 10,000 raid points, there are 15,000 ticks between mechs spawning which is 6 Rimworld hours. Weighted average is taken at values in between the defined points. See time for information on Rimworld time and game ticks.

The periodic Cerebrex Core attack waves range in potential size from 800 Raid Points of Mechs to 5000 Raid Points. The chart below shows the amount of points for each Mech Birther. So at 10,000 Raid Points, each Mech Birther produces a maximum of 1250 raid points worth of mechs, and there are 4 birthers.

Choosing to disable the mechhive will destroy the otherwise unbreakable cerebrex core, leaving behind a salvageable wreckage. The wreckage contains a persona core, but considering that this core leads the entire mechanoid swarm, it may be preferable to leave it behind, seal it away, or keep it securely contained in your gravship rather than give it to other factions or install it in your own endgame interstellar ship.
Strategy[edit]
Having strong turrets and defenses on your gravship will make taking out the Core all the easier. Building new structures can also help keep the mech threat contained.
It's recommended to send in a melee shielded unit to quickly take out the four turrets guarding the core, before the birthers start spawning units.
Be aware that there is a clear path through the Core room from the outside. Pawns are susceptible to pathing near/through it. This problem is exacerbated, should any of your pawns have a mental break.
It's recommended all surrounding units / turrets be taken down before destroying the stabilizers and disabling the core. Additionally, first reducing the stabilizers down to minimal health will put you in a position to quickly destroy the stabilizers and disable the core, potentially disabling the mechs from the retaliatory raids before they reach your base.
Destroying the core will disable all remaining enemy mechs on the map. However, your pawns will still view them as enemies, and will "run away" from them by default.
