Creation
Imperial shuttles are transport vehicles that can carry pawns and items. When landed on the ground, they are treated mechanically as a type of building.
Occurrence[edit]
Imperial shuttles are used to transport pawns for Royalty (DLC) quests from Industrial-tech level or higher factions. Despite the name, they are used in non-Empire quests as well. They are also called by the Call Transport Shuttle permit.
Empire faction bases will also always have an imperial shuttle sitting on a floored landing zone defined by four ship landing beacons — the shuttle will fly away if a player pawn is at least 30 tiles next to it, but the shuttle can be destroyed if action is taken fast enough. [How fast?]
If the player colony has a functional landing pad, imperial shuttles will attempt to land there if possible.
Summary[edit]
An imperial shuttle called by permit will transport colonists, items, and animals on a one-way trip to a valid tile within 70 world tiles. The shuttle can hold a total of 2,000 kg when loaded on a colony map, but as of 1.2.2900, it ignores this weight limit when called for a caravan on the world map.[Quest behavior?]
Damaging or destroying a shuttle does not create a crashed shuttle in its place. [Detail] Imperial shuttles will only yield a
shuttle engine when destroyed if the Odyssey DLC is active.
Analysis[edit]
As imperial shuttles fly to their destination tile directly, they are far faster than a caravan and can transport more mass at once than a transport pod. Imperial shuttles have a higher carrying capacity of 2,000 kg than a player-built passenger shuttle
, which can only hold up to 500 kg. However, since an imperial shuttle called by permit is only valid for one trip, a single imperial shuttle cannot do a round trip unlike a caravan or passenger shuttle. It is possible to use two permits for a round trip, or to travel to the destination some other way and travel back with the imperial shuttle.
Version history[edit]
- 1.1.2563 - Now avoids landing on crops.
- 1.2.2719 - Fix: Shuttles sometimes land on natural roofs.
- Possibly 1.3.3066 - Plasteel yield increased from 35 to 50.
- 1.3.3066 - Shuttles leave 50 uranium instead of 100 steel when killed. Refactored shuttles into generic Transport ships. These ships follow a series of jobs which can be controlled by quest logic, UI, and Lords. Transport ships are tracked while flying, loading, unloading, etc.
- 1.3.3067 - Shuttles can now overlap zones.
- 1.4.3523 - Fix: Shuttle stays forever if all passengers cannot get on board.
- 1.4.3529 - Fix: Some mechs cannot load into a shuttle.
- ? - Moved from Royalty DLC to Core.
- ? - Description and named changed.
- ? - Mass capacity changed to 2000.
- ? - Shuttle engine added to destroy yield.
- 1.6.4518 - Shuttles now provide 65% comfort, up from 0%.
