Shuttle engine

Shuttle engines are items added by the Odyssey DLC, used exclusively for the construction of passenger shuttles.

Acquisition[edit]

One shuttle engine will be obtained from deconstructing or destroying manned shuttles with the Odyssey DLC active, which are the imperial shuttle, crashed shuttle, and passenger shuttle. The spacedrone and crashed mechanitor ship will not yield a shuttle engine when deconstructed or destroyed.

The shuttle engine can also be acquired by trading with exotic goods traders, combat suppliers, or faction bases — as long as the trader or base is of the Traders guild faction. As that faction is only in orbit, the colony will need have a comms console to purchase one. Only one shuttle engine can be in stock at a time. Shuttle engines can also be obtained as a quest reward.

Passenger shuttles are a powerful late-game alternative option for transportation, which makes acquiring a shuttle engine highly desirable.

The easiest method is to accept the quests Sanguophage Transport and Shuttle Crash , which create a crashed shuttle even if the latter quest is failed. Any quest involving shuttle transport from the Empire will spawn an imperial shuttle, which can be destroyed for one shuttle engine. By refusing to load the necessary pawns onto the shuttle, you may anger the faction, but goodwill can be regained. Also the call transport shuttle permit can be used to summon a shuttle, allowing you to destroy it for a shuttle engine without harming relations with the Empire.

Without Royalty or Biotech installed, shuttle engines are more inconsistent to obtain. Crashed shuttles can be found in certain locations in orbit. In addition, shuttle engines can be bought via orbital trade ships or generate as quest rewards, although they are worth a lot.

Shuttle engines are quite valuable, although outlander and tribal settlements will not buy shuttle engines sold by caravans.

Trivia[edit]

Despite imperial shuttles being entirely self-sufficient with uranium powered fuel cells, the shuttle engine extracted from them automatically converts into being powered by chemfuel after being installed into passenger shuttles.
