Shuttle engines are items added by the Odyssey DLC, used exclusively for the construction of passenger shuttles.
Acquisition[edit]
Shuttle engines can be obtained from destroying manned shuttles, including the standard shuttle, crashed shuttle, and crashed mechanitor ship, but not including the spacedrone
.
The shuttle engine can also be acquired by trading with exotic goods traders, combat suppliers, and faction bases,[Which?] and as a quest reward.
Summary[edit]

Analysis[edit]
Passenger shuttles are a powerful late-game alternative option for transportation, which makes acquiring a shuttle engine highly desirable.
A shuttle engine can be gathered for absolutely free from the variants of shuttles in the quests Sanguophage Transport, Shuttle Crash
, and Ancient Transport
. This means that completing the short quest attached to the ancient exostrider
, available on the starting map in most scenarios, is guaranteed to provide a free shuttle engine.
Alternatively, one can accept a quest involving taking in pawns from the Empire, which will usually guarantee that a shuttle will arrive at the base, and can be destroyed for one shuttle engine. By refusing to load the necessary pawns onto the shuttle, you may anger the faction, but because neutral relations can be regained, this is infinitely repeatable.
The call transport shuttle permit can be used to summon a shuttle, allowing you to destroy it for a shuttle engine.[Aggros Empire?]
Without either the Royalty or Biotech
DLC, obtaining a shuttle engine is much more inconsistent. You have to rely on either finding it for sale or get lucky and have it show up as a quest reward. Their relatively high value makes the latter method especially difficult compared to others.
Outlander and Tribal settlements will not buy shuttle engines sold by caravans.
