For what its worth, although it doesn't display the reduction, it definitely slows down pawns that walk over them. I've tested two identical pawns over the same distance - one walking over a line of them and one walking on the same flooring underneath, and the bramble-walker is significantly slower.

My 2 cents, I try to ensure I NEVER remove something unless I can prove (although sometimes I am mistakes) it is wrong. Use your user page to log your work. It is very self helpful, at least for me. Summary: Not removing things your unsure on, esp without speaking to topic author (if possible). Your user page, within reason, is a MINOR workbin
How do you do info boxes etc?
Usually when adding an infobox to a page I find another page that's very similar. So if adding a melee weapon, I'll find another melee weapon page and copy the infobox section and blank out all the values that I know are different to help ensure they don't get left in by mistake. Then I'll go through and enter the correct values. Parameters that don't apply to the item can be left blank or removed. Parameters that are missing (it wasn't in the infobox you copied) can be added by looking at what the parameter is called in the infobox template (usually template:infobox main). If there's no image for the item yet that's ok, it can be added later.
Thank you!

Thank you.
Hey mate, excellent work on Persona weapon - I've been meaning to get around to those traits for ages.
Just tagging this on to this topic because its about editing and I think it might help. When linking to a page, if the text you wish to display is not different to the page name, you don't need the " | " nor to repeat the word.
So if you want to say Nobles and have it link to Titles, you need to have Nobles which results in Nobles
But if you just want to like to Titles, you don't need Titles you can just do Titles to get Titles. It will also work if the first word isn't capitalized. So titles to get titles still works.
It just saves your time and makes it cleaner to read and edit after the fact.
oh, ok, thanks!
how do you use templates?
Call a template by enclosing it in braces like this: template
Some templates take parameters, like
Most templates have documentation that explain how to use it and what its parameters are.
Is there any particular template you need help with?
Well, I can see some outdated information that are in some templates. So, how do you revise them?
Depends on the template. Many of the templates calculate things automatically. Some of them just have input values that you can change. Some rely on other information elsewhere on the wiki.
Most of the ones that work automatically take their data from the infobox template. (e.g. see Mini-slugger turret, it has 2 templates on it, the stub banner template and the infobox template). The infobox template has a lot of different values you can display and you can see some of them there. If the Flammability was incorrect for example, you;d find the line "| flammability = 0" and change it to the new value e.g. "| flammability = 0.7" for 70%
By changing the value in the infobox it should also update the templates that rely on it. (after a little while - it takes time for the wiki to update)
So if you changed the Beauty stat in the infobox on the Poker table page, the beauty values on the Material Table on that page would eventually automatically update itself.
Its hard being so general, so if you have specific instances you'd like examples of, let us know. Also consider joining us on the discord, it would likely be easier to have these sort of conversations when replies are fast and easy.
Who is Dr.Strangelove?
Another editor on the wiki.
What does he do?
Does he program the templates or something?
He's working on a way to pull stats directly from the game code and use it to automatically update the wiki. That's his primary focus. Most the templates you see around the wiki I wrote, but there is no one person in charge of it. The wiki is a collaborative thing - there's not people assigned to things or in charge of things. He's doing his thing because it interests him.
Why?
Just wanted to know Because I saw a -180000 or so byte deletion and i was confused
I joined discord, but im only availible there around 20:30-21:00 PST
Harakoni, why is "User: Dr. Strangelove" included as an animal with a body size of less than 0.55? Is it because he has the hare infobox on his user page?
Urg yes that is exactly why. You'll also see on the Steel that "Muffalo, Assault rifle, Flak helmet" is listed twice as two seperate entries because they're used as examples on the template pages.
I really need to make a way to stop test infoboxes setting parameters. I'll look into it.
My, oh my. I'm a small animal.
You could probably make exceptions for pages in the user namespace.
Check out a rough draft at Template:Animal Nutrition Table. Its not ready for actual use but its sufficient for feedback.
Atm it just has nutrition/day but there is a problem with calculating how many colonists/day as it depends on a lot of assumptions. Pawns don't eat when they get maximum possible nutrition - they'll eat when they'll overcap their food bar. Its one of the benefits of pemmican for example. You can also only show for certain meals - obviously for lavish and fine meals you can't only make it out of eggs or milk.
We could give the nutrition/day and allow the user to work out how much the pawn will eat or we could use the half written commented out version which does provide it but it will inherently be misleading.
I think there should be three rows, containing: 1. Can sustain a supply chain of x meals a day. 2. Nutrition per Day (n/a for fine and lavish) 3.Colonists sustained/day (for fine and lavish assume there is a supply of vegetarian food coming in)*. Also, usually, my colonists eat at 0.1-0.2 saturation left, depending on how far they are from the dining/rec room. I guess 0.15 saturation left (0.05 nutrition wasted for simple and fine meals, 0.15 wasted for lavish) is a good number to calculate from.
(*write in as note in actual template)
Harakoni, how should I make the about page of rimworld more visible for people who want info on the game before buying it?
I've been thinking about this for the last few days, and I'm not really sure. Theres not that many places you can link to that in the wiki structure. The only thing I can think of is making a more obvious link on the main page. If you want to have a go, Main_Page/editcopy is for trying out and refining change suggestions (don't want major issues with the main page while people are trying to use it)
May I create a page listing all of the war crimes you can commit in RimWorld? I'm sure there are plenty of people wanting to find all the war crimes they can commit in-game, after seeing some certain youtubers. It could be like the Trees/Humor page.
Tag it with Template:Humour and don't spam links to it everywhere and I personally won't object. Especially if you make it read like a normal wiki article until because that'd be hilarious.
Hey Harakoni, could you change the I box in the humour template to a real cowboy hat?
Also, I think the reason the main page looks so cluttered is because of the massive amount of text on the page. In my opinion, the Hearts of Iron IV wiki looks cleaner because there isn't as much text. I believe that the wiki main page should be organized like that, showing a single category with an icon next to it. It could also be tweaked to add a drop down menu next to each category. I have absolutely no expertise in programming or organizing any of this.
Hows that for the template?
Nice.
Should I rewrite fueled generator as a disambiguation page?
Harakoni, can I use a screenshot from a youtube video in an article (specifically, Francis John 395 Pawn Challenge Episode 13 6:36)? I am adding the fire capture tactic to the fire page.
Not without permission from either YouTube or from FJ himself, as Youtube's license specifically disallows it otherwise. Also screenshots from YT videos tend to be poor quality anyway.
I'd suggest just using Dev mode's god mode to insta-build what you want to screenshot doing it that way.
Sirry its clunky but copyright is annoying.
Hey Harakoni, may I create a subset page of weapon guide to rewrite the page without completely destroying it while people are using it? It could be deleted afterwards.
Create a sandbox under your namespace.
Right, the recommended way is to create your own sandbox. In the search box, enter your username immediately followed by /sandbox. On the results page there will be an option to create the page.
