Word of inspiration is a level 5 psycast that grants a random mental inspiration to its target.
Acquisition[edit]
There are two ways to acquire the word of inspiration psycast:
- Upon reaching psylink level 5, a random psycast of level 5 is granted regardless of how this level up is achieved. This won't apply if the psycaster already knew one or more level 5 psycast.
- Word of inspiration can also be acquired from a psytrainer naming it. See the psytrainer page for further details.
Summary[edit]
Word of inspiration's effects are simple: upon casting, the target will immediately receive a mental inspiration. The type of inspiration the target receives is chosen at random according to the regular rules for natural inspirations, meaning that a pawn's passions will strongly influence which outcomes they are likeliest to receive.
This psycast can only be used on friendly colonists and slaves
, and only if they're not in a mental break. Prisoners are not valid targets.
Pawns cannot cast word of inspiration on themselves.
Analysis[edit]
- Word of inspiration can be used to great effect when combined with a persona weapon with the kill-focused trait.
- In biomes with abundant wildlife, pawns with a modest Melee skill can hunt down small game that pose little risk of causing serious harm if taken by surprise (such as rats and hares) to quickly recharge their psyfocus.
- Since this trait counts it as a "kill" when the bonded pawn slaughters an animal with the weapon equipped and held, rapidly-breeding animals such as chickens and ducks - both of which which lay an egg an every day - can be indirectly turned into inspirations by hatching the eggs and then slaughtering the chicks, at a ratio of roughly 4 animal slaughters per inspiration.
