* In real life, Teak trees can grow to be over ~130 feet (~39 meters) tall. By comparison, the average height of an oak tree (specifically the Pin oak tree) is ~82 feet (~25 meters).

* Teak is native to south and southeast Asia, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and Burma.

* Teak wood is prodigiously resistant to decay due to its high oil content, and it doesn't crack, wrap or turn black when in contact with metals. It is also highly resistant to termites and other pests. The price paid for this resistance is that before it can be used for lumber, teak must first be dried for ~1-2 years.
