Strawberry plant
A low bush-like plant that yields fragile but delicious strawberries. While it isn't quite as productive calorie-for-calorie as other crops, strawberries are delicious even when raw.

A strawberry plant is a leafy bush that grows large, fleshy red berries that can be planted in growing zones by your colonists. Unlike wild berry bushes, strawberry plants are a crop, and are completely removed when harvested and must be replanted to be grown and harvested again.
Unlike most other foods that must be cooked to prevent the "ate raw food" thought, berries can be eaten raw without a mood penalty. However, as with all raw foods, they still have a flat 2% chance to give food poisoning.
Growing[edit]
Sowing strawberry plants requires a minimum growing skill of 5, but any colonist capable of plant cutting can harvest them.
Strawberries are greatly affected by fertility of the soil, and as such, they are best suited to be grown in hydroponics basins, where their yield outperforms all other crops except rice.

Analysis[edit]
Strawberries most prominent feature vs other crops is that they can be eaten raw without the negative "ate raw food" thought. This makes them a top choice when cooking meals is undesired or impossible, such as when cooking is a prohibited work type, the cooking skill is extremely low on all available pawns, no clean Kitchen can be built, or when pawn labor is required for more pressing needs. The food poisoning chance of 2% when eaten raw is equivalent to a meal cooked by a pawn with a cooking skill level of 3, or a meal made by a high skill pawn in a Kitchen with about -3.5 cleanliness.
Strawberries are in a strong middle ground when it comes to work required and nutrition yield, especially if you plan not to cook them. Rice provides higher nutrient yields per day, but strawberries require only 2/3 the pawn hours of work to keep planted. Corn provides more nutrients per hour of pawn labor, but takes much longer to grow and can't be grown in hydroponics. Potatoes grow better in poor or normal soil, but their low fertility sensitivity makes strawberries significantly better daily average yield in fertile soil or hydroponics.
