Boomshroom

Boomshroom

These mushrooms produce volatile chemicals as a defensive measure. They can be harvested for chemfuel. However, this must be done with extreme caution, as the mushrooms can explode if they're destroyed.
Glitterworld researchers have used genetic material from boomshrooms to bioengineer a number of chemfuel-producing animals.

Boomshrooms are plants that grow wild in glowforests and yield chemfuel when harvested mature. They cannot be planted by the player.

Summary[edit]

Boomshrooms that are grown enough to harvest, i.e. at 65% growth, explode immediately when destroyed by damage,[Only?] dealing 10 Flame damage in a 4.9-tile radius and potentially igniting flammable pawns, buildings, and flooring in the area. For a full list of effects, see Flame.

Unlike some chemfuel-related explosions, it does not create chemfuel puddles. Also note that while the boomshroom must be sufficiently grown to explode, growth beyond the threshold has no effect on the explosion. Finally, keep in mind that as non-tree plants only area-of-effect attacks and fire can damage them.[Verify]

  • Lore[edit]

The chemfuel-producing animals mentioned in the description are most likely references to boomalopes and boomrats.

The initial release of the Revival Briefing, which is now considered non-canon, describes rocketrees which produce rocket fuel in their cores over many years. They were created as a fuel source and are extremely dangerous in a fire. The similarity in use and danger are notable, and given the now-noncanonicity of rocketrees, boomshrooms may represent the current state of the original concept.
