Archean tree
A tree bioengineered to terraform deadworlds and early-stage rimworlds. The tree hosts a special microbial community in its roots which enriches nearby terrain into rich soil. The trees are hardy enough to survive in the vacuum of space and produce a small amount of oxygen.
Archean trees are sterile, preventing them from becoming an invasive species after terraforming has been completed. They can only be grown from seeds produced on glitterworld planets. The tree's delicate root system prevents it from being replanted.

Plant Stats
The archean tree is a tree added by the Odyssey DLC that converts nearby terrain into rich soil, and generates oxygen in a vacuum.
Growing[edit]
Archean trees cannot be grown in growing zones like traditional trees, and instead require archean seeds to be planted. These seeds can be found in containers nearby to live archean trees found on asteroids, as well as in ruins on the planet surface or while fishing.
Archean trees heal slowly over time, restoring 30hp per day.
Note that archean tree can't be replanted.
Summary[edit]
Archean seed can be planted on any natural floor and can have roof built on top. Since it does not require light to grow or survive it can be planted in glowforests or under a sun blocker.
They allow for the conversion of solid rock floor to fertile soil.
Every 1,250 ticks (0.5 in-game hours), the tree will convert a nearby tile to fertile soil. The tree will convert the area of a 13x13 box with 6 tiles missing from each corner to form a circular area. Each tree can convert up to 145 tiles (144 if you don't chop down the tree itself). It takes a single tree just over 3 days to finish converting its entire area to fertile soil.
Tiles converted by the tree are permanently changed and will remain if the tree is chopped or dies in some other manner.
Every 250 ticks (4.17 secs), an archean tree lowers the vacuum percentage of its current room. The room must be enclosed by airtight structures and roofed. It changes the vacuum percentage at a base rate of −0.5% per second per 100 tiles, scaling proportionally to the number of tiles enclosed; for instance, a room with 25 tiles will reduce the vacuum percentage by −2% per second, while a room with 200 tiles will drop by −0.25% per second. Multiple oxygen sources may be required to pressurize especially large rooms.
Analysis[edit]
Trivia[edit]
The Archean was the geological period of earth's history where the earliest known life existed, the events of the approximately 1500 million year period including the unknown origin(s) of life, the proliferation of chemotrophic organisms across the previously barren oceans, evolution and spread of cyanobacteria, theorized emergence of the first continents, and eventually oxygen-based photosynthesis.
Despite having a growing time and light growth requirement, all planted archean trees start simultaneously at full size and harvest yield while remaining at 0% growth permanently. This is reflected in their background as designed terraforming life, induced to reproduce only in unknown glitterworld conditions.
