Analysis
Quick to lay, and made of a material plentiful in most biomes, wood floors are a significant improvement over natural terrain like dirt or stone, being faster to walk on, cleaner, and more beautiful. The use of wood and lack of research requirement also makes it more easily available than similar competitors for the early game like paved tile, which requires Stonecutting and the far more in-demand steel. Having no minimum Construction skill and a low cost in case of failure also means that it is more tolerant of low skilled pawns common in the early game.
Wood floors should be phased out after the early game, however, due to the fire risk. Its flammability may only be 22%, much lower than the 100% flammability of a wood wall, but fire will still rapidly over a fully covered room with wood floors. This can result in devastating losses of structures, items, and even pawns.
