Pit burrows are small holes that fleshbeasts emerge from.

Occurance[edit]

Pit burrows will appear on the map during a fleshbeast attack or the draw fleshbeasts ritual, where fleshbeasts will emerge out of each burrow. They may also be found as a naturally generated part of a distress signal's encounter map.

Summary[edit]

Each pit burrow will attempt to spawn one set of fleshbeasts.

  • During a fleshbeast attack or if draw fleshbeasts is used, the fleshbeasts will generate immediately and will continue to generate even if the burrow is somehow filled.
  • If encountered in a distress signal map, each pit gate will spawn an ambush of fleshbeasts eventually.[When?] If a pit burrow is filled in beforehand, the game will attempt to spawn the fleshbeasts at any other pit burrow on the map. If there are no pit burrows left, a threat of equal raid points will be activated on one of your colonies.

Structures and interaction spots cannot be placed on a pit burrow. Floor can be constructed on pit burrows and will not be removed once the pit burrow is dstroyed.

A pit burrow can be filled in at any time by a colonist assigned to Construction to remove it. This takes 2,500 ticks (41.67 secs) of work at base and does not seem to be affected by Construction skill.[Verify] If left alone, pit burrows will naturally collapse over time.[How long?]

Analysis[edit]

Pit burrows spawned as part of a fleshbeast attack or draw fleshbeasts rituals are harmless. They can be filled in if they are in the way, but it is not necessary to fill in burrows that are far away from the main base.

Pit burrows from distress signal quests spawn enemies, so make sure to note each burrow's location before entering.
