Steel tile is a type of floor. It is naturally clean, non-flammable, and neutral beauty-wise.
Acquisition[edit]
Steel tiles can be crafted once the Smithing research project has been completed. Each requires 7 Steel, 800 ticks (13.33 secs) of work modified by the general labor speed of the crafter, and a construction skill of 3.
Summary[edit]
Steel tiles have a +0.2 cleanliness value, and have a cleaning time multiplier of 60%. Unlike silver and gold tile, steel tile is not considered a fine floor for nobles in the Royalty DLC.
Analysis[edit]
Unlike steel furniture and walls, steel tile will not burn. It can be constructed out of 7 steel, making it the second most expensive steel-type flooring.
With its neutral beauty, cleanliness and being quick to clean, it is an effective general purpose floor that will retain impressiveness better than many other floors, however the high steel cost makes this untenable in many colonies.
Cleanliness[edit]
This section is a stub. You can help RimWorld Wiki by expanding it. Reason: Normal vs sterile vs steel for different room types with actual numerical stat comparisons (table maybe?). |
Being quick to clean and with an intrinsic cleanliness bonus, steel tile is a useful option for kitchens, Research and genetics laboratories and hospitals.
Steel tile provides less cleanliness per tile and per wealth (0.0125/ vs 0.025/
) than sterile tile but it has a greater beauty (0 vs -1). More importantly, steel tile only requires Smithing which almost every colony will unlock already in order to progress, while sterile tile requires [[Research#Sterile materials|]] which both requires more research total but also is much less generally useful.
Version history[edit]
