Toxipotatoes

Toxipotatoes

Raw toxipotatoes. Once harvested, toxipotatoes are very dietarily similar to potatoes. However, when eaten raw, they have a higher chance of causing food poisoning.<

Toxipotatoes are a vegetable raw food obtained by harvesting toxipotato plants. Toxipotato plants are one of the only plants to grow on polluted soil, but toxipotatoes have an increased chance of food poisoning when eaten raw.

Acquisition

Toxipotatoes are harvested from potato plants. Each plant requires 9.05 full days at optimal light and temperature range to reach maturity in normal, 100% fertile soil and yields units per plant, before modifiers for Difficulty and Plant Harvest Yield.

Summary

As a raw food, toxipotatoes can be be eaten raw, with a chance of giving food poisoning, however this chance is double that of other raw foods at 4%. They can also be cooked into a meal with a food poisoning chance dependant on the skill of the cook and the cleanliness of the kitchen, with no additional malus when compared to other raw foods. When used in food recipes that require specific types of nutrition, such as fine meals, toxipotatoes are classified as a vegetable.

As with most raw food, eating toxipotatoes directly results in a −7 Ate raw food mood penalty. This mood penalty is negated if the pawn has the ascetic trait or the robust digestion gene.

Analysis

Toxipotato plants (0.77 base yield/day) are strictly inferior in yield/tile/day to both potato plants (1.03 yield/day) nd rice plants (1.08 yield/day) in regular soil. While +16.6% better in yield/work than rice, toxipotatoes grow slower and are thus less reliable. If work is a concern, then regular potatoes (+157%) or corn (+314%) are much better options.

Toxipotatoes can be grown on polluted soil, but their abysmal yield in all aspects means that it would take an almost fully polluted map, where little unpolluted soil is nearby, to make it feasible. Even then, you could clean out a field to grow more traditional plants in. Cleaning can take a small process

The extra food poisoning chance is negligible, as raw food should always be cooked anyways.
