A simple meal is created at an electric stove, fueled stove, or a campfire and requires 0.5 total nutrition from any raw food (e.g. any combination of 10 meat, milk, or vegetables. 1 egg is equivalent to 5 meat.) to create. No cooking skill is required to create this meal. When eaten it provides no thought bonus or penalty. A simple meal provides 0.9 nutrition.

Producing a simple meal requires 0.5 nutrition in ingredients, but produces 0.9 nutrition in results -- an 80% net nutrition gain. Upgrading from eating raw food to simple meals is a huge upgrade, since:

  • Simple meals give 80% more nutrition than raw food.
  • Simple meals avoid the -7 negative moodlet for eating raw food.
  • Simple meals have a lower chance of giving food poisoning, assuming a clean cooking area and a chef with a cooking stat of 3 or better.

If you have both meat and vegetables and sufficient skill, fine meals are superior options as they have the same nutrition increase but also provides a mood buff.
