Pigs are a domesticated animal, obtainable from both land and space traders.
Comparison with the wild boar
A cousin of the boar, in game, the pig is a more controllable and more yield-rich version of its wild relative. They yield more meat (72 vs 63), leather (16 vs 14) and has a greater little of piglets (3 vs 1). They can also be trained and handled by anyone, while colonists must be level 3 to handle a boar.
They share the same gestation period (26 days) and are both omnivorous, making them easy to feed.
However, pigs have a slightly higher hunger rate than the boar, making them more more expensive to maintain. Boar also mature in 6 months while pigs take a year. The biggest advantage the boar holds over the pig is that they can be found naturally on most biomes and while there is a slight risk of the boar attacking on a failed taming attempt, they are considerably easier to maintain than the pig, which can only be bought from traders or found during the domesticated herd event.
