Livestock
Keeping chickens as livestock is extremely hard, but extremely rewarding if you can control it. If you have a pair of chickens ready to start mating, in about 1 season your meat shortage will simply vanish. As chickens are living example of the nature of exponential growth, in about another season, if you do not deal with them, your CPU will catch fire.
