Grav anchor

Grav anchor
Prevents the local map from being destroyed during a gravship launch. Grav anchors passively reduce unstable gravitation shear in a large area, which prevents the damaging effects of a gravhip launch. It can't be constructed on the gravship itself because it would prevent flight entirely.

A grav anchor allows gravships to launch without permanently destroying the tile it is on.
Acquisition[edit]
Grav anchors can be constructed once the Basic gravtech research project has been completed. Each requires
300 Plasteel,
80 Gravlite panels,
5 Advanced components and 38,000 ticks (10.56 mins) of work modified by the construction speed of the builder.
Summary[edit]
When installed in a map, grav anchors prevent the tile from being destroyed by gravship launches. It also prevents temporary maps, i.e., quest sites, camps, and all areas in orbit, from being abandoned when there are no non-downed colonists or slaves
present.
The map will still remain loaded even after all pawns leave. If the anchor is destroyed, there is no grav engine present, the map hasn't been settled yet, and there are no non-downed colonists/slaves present, the map will be lost.
Analysis[edit]
Grav anchors are essential for having a permanent colony and a gravship at the same time. They are also essential for a permanent colony in orbit, whether on an asteroid or on one of sites generated by an orbital scanner, as they cannot be settled normally.
In addition, anchors could be used to return to an unfinshed quest site if a gravship won't stay there. For example, if you enter a satellite and the uranium slug turrets kill an important colonist or two, the anchor will let you retreat and return. However, this requires bringing the materials to the quest site, spending said materials, having enough time to build the anchor, and not having the anchor be destroyed, so this is unlikely to be practical.
If the anchor is destroyed and no gravship is present, the map will be lost if there are no colonists or slaves
there. Animals, buildings, items, and friendly mechanoids
will be abandoned, so it is very important to keep the anchors safe to not lose everything there.
