Patchleather is a type of leather produced when a tailor combines different types of leather at a tailor bench. Useful for combining unusably small amounts of different leathers into a single type to get a large enough quantity for use.

Acquisition

Unlike other leathers, patchleather is not procured by butchering animals, but rather by combining other leathers together at a tailor bench. 50 units of any other types of leather, except human leather, will output 50 units of patchleather.

Analysis

Patchleather has the worst stats of any leather in the game in both protection and insulation. The only textiles it is superior to are cloth and the wools, and even then only just and only in terms of protection as it is significantly inferior to them in insulation. It has the lowest insulation, market value and beauty of any textile, and tied 2nd lowest item hitpoints.

The main advantages of patchleather are that it's cheap and easy to produce in bulk as it can use up the small quanities of leather left over that are insufficient to make anything. This can convert an unusable resource into a usable one when textile supplies are low. Keep in mind, however, that in some cases it may be more profitable to sell the other leather rather than attempt to convert them into patchleather and then construct something out of them.

Generally, it should only be when there is no alternative or where its stats have little effect on the utility of the resulting item, such as in clothing production quests or Armchairs whose beauty rarely significantly affects a room's quality.
