Advanced components are a late game crafting material used for high-tech crafting and construction, such as building the ship to escape the planet, or making charge rifles and marine armor.

Acquisition[edit]

Advanced components can be crafted at a fabrication bench once the Advanced fabrication research project has been completed. Each requires Component 1 Component, Steel 20 Steel, Plasteel 10 Plasteel, Gold 3 Gold, 10,000 ticks (2.78 mins) of work modified by the general labor speed of the crafter, and a crafting skill of 8.

Advanced components can also be collected by destroying crashed ship parts or by purchasing them from traders. Advanced components can only be bought from orbital traders, outlanders, and the Empire.Content added by the Royalty DLC They can also be found in ancient shrines.

Summary[edit]

Damage to an advanced component's HP does not affect their market value.

Usage[edit]

Advanced components are used in the following crafting recipes:

  • Product Ingredients Type [Expand]
  • Analysis[edit]

Like with regular components, advanced components are often a bottleneck to a colony. It is highly recommended to keep 2 advanced components for when you can build a fabrication bench, which allows you to make both types of component yourself. You may also want to grab one to make a ground-penetrating scanner or long-range mineral scanner. Both can scan for ores indefinitely; the metal that they find can be another bottleneck towards development.

Before Advanced Fabrication, the most reliable way to get these is via trade. Outlander faction bases often have a few advanced components on sale. If you are unable to trade this way, both exotics goods traders and orbital trade ships are able to sell some.

In any case, traders rarely pack more than a few at a time, and they become insufficient to meet the high demand for advanced components in the late game. This is exacerbated if you are constructing the ship. A large amount of time - 10,000 ticks (2.78 mins) of work per component - will be spent creating advanced components. You may want to build multiple fabrication benches, with multiple high-skill crafters, to make enough. In addition, 1 or 2 tool cabinets can be used to speed up work speed.

Note that you will need both plasteel and gold to create advanced components, so plan ahead accordingly.

    Trivia[edit]

    • In the code, Advanced Components are called "ComponentSpacer"

    Version history[edit]

    • Beta 19 - now requires 10 plasteel instead of 3 uranium to make and is used for a greater variety of crafting recipes instead of only building the ship.
