Creation
Ancient uplinks are structures added by the Odyssey DLC, as a part of the landmarks feature. They can be hacked to discover a quest in orbit.
Occurrence[edit]
The ancient uplink can only be found on a landmark with the ancient uplink feature.
Summary[edit]
An ancient uplink can be hacked to discover a quest in orbit. This requires an intellectual skill of 6 and takes 100 hacking progress, which translates to 6,000 ticks (1.67 mins) at 100% hacking speed. Detection during a hacking attempt locks out the uplink for 6-8 hours.
The ancient uplink gives the same quests as the orbital scanner.
Once hacked, an ancient uplink can be deconstructed for
50 steel. Alternatively it can be destroyed for
35 steel and
2 steel slag chunks.
Analysis[edit]
Ancient uplink hacking is an alternative to building and manning an orbital scanner, suitable for a nomadic play style with the gravship.
