Hermetic crate

Hermetic crate are lootable ruins that appear as part of some DLC content. Glows slightly, has contents that it ejects when opened.

Occurrence[edit]

Hermetic crates can be mostly found inside ancient complexes. They can also be found at some orbital locations. If Ideology DLC is enabled, ancient dangers contain one crate that holds the most valuable item generated as part of the floor loot.

Summary[edit]

As a loot container, the hermetic crate can be opened by any pawn capable of manipulation, excluding ghouls. Opening the container can be done either by selecting pawns or by selecting the container:

With one or several pawns selected, right-clicking on the container shows an Open action in the context menu. Selecting it sends the pawns to the container where one of them will open it. This works whether pawns are drafted or not. Ghouls ignore the command and do not move with the others, even when drafted.
Alternatively, selecting the container shows an Open command with shortcut J. Once the container is marked for opening, it will be opened by any suitable pawn assigned to Basic work. Selecting a pawn and right-clicking on the container will only work if the pawn is drafted or assigned to Basic work.
Note that the Open command in the Orders menu does not apply to loot containers.

Opening a loot container takes 100 ticks (1.67 secs). The contents are dropped next to the container and the container's texture is changed to its empty variant.

Loot[edit]

The items inside a hermetic crate depend on the structure or room where they are generated. At ancient dangers they share the floor loot pool, while at orbital sites they share the pool of sealed crates, both of which are covered in their respective articles. At ancient complexes hermetic crates can have one of two pools depending on whether it is a Relic hunt subquest or not. Generally speaking, crates from relic related complexes yield less quantities from a smaller pool of items, mostly limited to basic resources.

Ancient danger crates [edit]

When the Ideology DLC is present, the most valuable item stack from the floor loot is placed in a hermetic crate. The amount of loot varies wildly, so any of the following ancient danger loot items can end up in the crate. Loot can also be absent, in which case there is no hermetic crate.

Odyssey ruins crates [edit]

These crates are most often found in orbital wrecks but can also appear in the following Odyssey ruins: ancient ruins and frozen ruins landmarks, as well as ruins found naturally in the scarlands and glacial plain maps. They can also be found at the site of the ancient reactor quest.
