Summary[edit]
An open area scraped clean by the movement of glaciers. While vegetation and soil are sparse, a few hardy species have made their home here.
There are no geysers in glacial plain maps. Frozen ruins are hidden in the glaciers on all maps, with much bigger ruins when a frozen ruins landmark is present. Anima trees
will not appear even in a warm glacial plains map.
In the lists below the number in brackets represents the relative commonality.

Summary[edit]
Glacial plains are similar to boreal forests or tundras in terms of temperature and growing season length, but lack steam geysers for heat and power, and have much less land to grow on.
- Food and Growing: Moderate to Difficult - Growing seasons can be similar in length to boreal forests, but glacial plains do not have rich soil at all and regular soil is sparse.
- Disease: Easy - Disease events are uncommon. Healroot still grows naturally during the summer, and healroot plants will survive (but not grow in) the cold.
- Temperature: Difficult - While the summers are fairly warm, the total lack of steam geysers and relative lack of trees make temperature more difficult than the other cold biomes, namely for New Tribes which don't start with Electricity.
- Fires: Easy - There is little plant life, and there are large stretches of ice between each patch of soil, meaning fires are not difficult to fight.
- Special: There are few/no ruins outside of the ice, so the initial start may be harder.
Overall starting difficulty ranges from moderate to difficult. In warmer tiles, the summer will last long enough for colonists to stablize and get a food supply established. Still, the colony will likely have to build in a sub-optimal location in order to be near a soil patch.
