Temperate forest is a temperate biome in RimWorld.
Summary[edit]
One of the most forgiving biomes in the game, temperate forests are distinguished by their copious amounts of fertile soil, lack of extreme heat or cold, excellent access to trees to chop for wood, and large wildlife populations. Temperate forests tend to have very few areas of low terrain affordance.

Analysis[edit]
Temperate forest is one of the most hospitable biomes. It is dense in flora and fauna and often has a year-round growing season, without the disease frequency of a tropical rainforest or swamp. Therefore, it is recommended to new players, players wanting a casual experience, and/or players who want the challenge to come from raids or other sources rather than from the biome.
- Growing and Food: Easy - Growing seasons are year-round or long. Many animals are present. Soil is common.
- Disease: Easy - Temperate forest has a relatively low disease rate for a biome with year-round growing. Wild healroot grows naturally, too, unlike the otherwise similar arid shrubland.
- Temperature: Easy - Temperatures should be comfortable save for heat waves and cold snaps, as well as winters in temperate forests without a year-round growing season. See the heat wave and cold snap sections for how to deal with these events.
- Fires: Moderate - There are plenty of trees and plants, meaning fires can spread. Firebreaks can be built around the colony to mitigate fire damage.
- Predators: Moderate - Grizzly bears can show up, but will be rarely hungry enough to attack colonists unless they are already near.
Overall difficulty is easy - it has the least overall challenges of all the biomes.
