Catfish are large temperate freshwater fish.

Acquisition[edit]

Catfish will sometimes inhabit large bodies of freshwater in the following biomes:

The catfish population can be converted into raw food through the work of a fisher in a fishing zone.

Bad fishing outcomes[edit]

Catfish have a chance to attack with their spines, dealing 1-2 stab damage and causing 0.1 units of toxic buildup in the fisher, or to escape without harming the fisher.

Summary[edit]

As a raw food, catfish can be eaten raw, with a chance of giving food poisoning, however this chance half that of raw foods at 1%. They can also be cooked into a meal with a food poisoning chance dependent on the skill of the cook and the cleanliness of the kitchen, with no additional malus when compared to other raw foods. Animals are immune to food poisoning from raw food but not from meals. When used in food recipes that require specific types of nutrition, such as fine meals, catfish are classified as meat.

As with most raw food, eating catfish directly results in a −7 Ate raw food mood for 1 day. This mood penalty is negated if the pawn has the robust digestion gene or the ascetic trait.
