A dining chair is a type of furniture which your colonists can sit on. Dining chairs can be placed at tables to allow your colonists to eat there; in front of televisions to let them watch; or in front of production benches to provide comfort as they work, improving their mood and allowing them to work longer before needing a break.
Acquisition
Constructing a dining chair requires Complex Furniture to be researched, a construction skill of 4 and 45 of any one type of metal or wood.

Analysis
Dining chairs are mid-tier seating, providing more comfort than stools but less than armchairs. They are more time- and resource-intensive than stools, and can only be made from wood or metals, but are still affordable enough to be built even early on. Eventually upgrading them to armchairs, particularly at research and production benches where your pawns spend long periods of time, is advised. The material used does not affect comfort, however it does affect beauty, hitpoints, flammability and value.
Chairs in general are useful for preventing the "Uncomfortable" mood debuff and can even grant mood buffs at good qualities. For pawns with jobs that can done sitting in an chair, a normal quality dining chair will maintain the "Comfortable" buff (+4) all day. A masterwork dining chair, with a comfort level of 102% can maintain the +10 bonus all day. This is a significant bonus, equivalent to a drinking 2 beers a day but without the time constraint and without the cost, the addiction chance, the increased social fight chance and decreased manipulation. However, masterworks dining chairds are significantly rarer than the excellent armchairs that could achieve the same goal, so while a masterwork or legendary dining chair should be kept if made or found, switching or skipping to armchairs is suggested.
Thus, every dining table, recreation item, and production bench that allows sitting should have at least some chair installed on them. Priority should be given to objects in continuous use, such as stoves and research benches, with less used objects such as telescopes and tables changed over last. However, if possible armchairs should be used rather than dining chairs.
Comfort
Comfort is a measure of how fast a pawn will refill their comfort meter. A pawn sitting in a chair a higher comfort value will regain comfort proportionally faster. Comfort varies by quality but not material. Dining chairs of the same quality level will all have the same quality, regardless of what they're constructed from.
