A stool is a type of furniture which your colonists can sit on. Stools can be placed at tables to allow your colonists to eat there; in front of televisions to let them watch; or in front of production benches to provide comfort as they work, improving their mood and allowing them to work longer before needing a break.
Comparison
Stools are the least effective form of seating in the game. They provide significantly less comfort than dining chairs or armchairs, but require a fraction of the materials and work to build, making them ideal for resource-scarce early games.
Unlike the other seats, they can also be made from almost any material.
Alternative Usage
Stools have the dubious distinction of providing only 20% cover. While this seems like a purely negative trait, it makes stools very effective at luring raiders into positioning themselves into very poor defensive positions.
