This used to make it possible to harvest better organs from colonists or prisoners without killing them and without mood or reputation penalties. However, this feature/oversight has been removed and normal organ harvesting penalties apply when harvesting a heart in this way.

On the plus side, prosthetic hearts provide a fairly cheap (25 steel, 4 components per heart) method of harvesting one of all harvestable body parts. Just remember to harvest the Liver last and that you cannot reclaim the heart from a lifeless corpse

Prosthetic hearts are a heart replacement with 80% efficiency. They can be crafted on a Machining table.

However, this feature/oversight has been removed and normal organ harvesting penalties apply when harvesting a heart in this way. On the plus side, prosthetic hearts provide a fairly cheap (25 steel, 4 components per heart) method of harvesting one of all harvestable body parts.
