The fabrication bench is used by smiths to create components and advanced components, as well as advanced weapons, power armor and bionic body parts.
Acquisition
The fabrication bench can be constructed once Fabrication has been researched. It requires 200 Steel, 12 Components, 2 Advanced components, 5,000 ticks (1.39 mins) of work, and a Construction skill of 6.
Summary
Once installed, a fabrication bench cannot be moved, only deconstructed.
The following items can be crafted at the fabrication bench.
Analysis
This section is a stub. You can help RimWorld Wiki by expanding it. Reason: Please add a reason . |
Components
Components can be made at a relatively cheap cost using this bench, and steel can be obtained in large amounts from deep drills and mineral deposits that can be scanned with the long-range mineral scanner, making this bench great at providing a constant component supply.
It is also good for producing advanced components for building the ship, as otherwise advanced components are hard to find in bulk from traders, and even when a large amount is found on a trader, they are very expensive.
Equipment
It is needed to produce the charge rifle, charge lance and Power armor. Charge weapons don't spawn on enemies in the core game , and only on the dangerous Empire faction with the Royalty DLC activated, so they are harder to come by than other weapons.
Bionics
Bionics can be produced reliably using this bench, allowing you to quickly make replacements instead of calling traders who may or may not have them.
Skill training
With a great demand for components in most colonies, component assembly is a great way to train colonists' crafting skill, if they are already decent at crafting. Good smiths provide quality weapons and armor for your colony and are valuable to any colony.
Version history
- 0.18.1722 - Cost was reduced from 400->200 steel and 20->14 components. The skill requirement is also reduced to 8 from 10. The recipe for advanced components has also been added.
- 0.19.2009 - The component assembly bench renamed to fabrication bench alongside a rework. New recipes using it were added. It also now requires advanced components to construct.
