Brainwipe
| This article relates to content added by Anomaly (DLC). Please note that it will not be present without the DLC enabled. |
Brainwipe
Erase a person's memories. Traumatic events will be forgotten. Prisoners will forget their allegiance and become easier to recruit, even if they were unwavering before. Inhumanized individuals will forget their connection to the void. Unfortunately, the disruptive effect of the ritual will induce a coma that could last a long time, especially if the ritual is of poor quality.

Creation
Brainwipe is a psychic ritual that removes all allegiances (including unwavering loyalty) and social memories of a pawn at the cost of putting them into a coma. It can also undo the effects of Inhumanization. With the Ideology DLC
enabled, it will also reset their Certainty and Will, making it trivial to enslave or convert them.
Acquisition[edit]
The brainwipe psychic ritual can be performed once every 1,200,000 ticks (20 in-game days) at a psychic ritual spot at the cost of
1 Shard, once the Brainwipe research project has been completed. Note that this research requires dark study to unlock. The ritual takes 15,000 ticks (6 in-game hours) to complete.
Summary[edit]
| This section is a stub. You can help RimWorld Wiki by expanding it. Reason: Proper formating, also needs participant kinds and numbers. |
- Removes:[Detail]
- Timed thoughts (Positive and negative)
- Timed opinions (Positive and negative)
- Resistance (Set to 0)
- Will
(Set to 0) - Unwavering loyalty
- Certainty
(Set to 0%, but ideology does not change) - Inhumanization
- Does NOT remove:
- Pawn Traits (such as Incapable of Violence, or traits gained from pawn background)
- Ritual quality shortens the induced coma, from 60 days at 0% quality to 1 day at 100%.
Analysis[edit]
Brainwipe is the only way to remove unwavering loyalty. If a particularly useful pawn is captured but is unwavering, this ritual can be well worth the cost of a shard and significant downtime.
In most cases, it is not worth using brainwipe for general recruitment, but it can make sense in certain situations. If all colonists have Inhumanizing: Required,
and become inhumanized, their social stats will be poor and recruitment will be slow. Nobles
and sanguophages
have especially high resistance and recruiting them can take a very long time.
Brainwipe can also be used as a conversion tool.
For example, an iron-willed pawn with Apostasy: Abhorrent has a ×10% conversion multiplier, making regular conversion extremely slow. While a masterful conversion ritual will instantly convert such pawns, and should be attempted first, conversion rituals have a long cooldown and so brainwipe will be faster than repeated ritual attempts.
