The Prosthetic heart is a heart replacement with 80% efficiency. It affects Blood pumping and several dependent stats - due to its below-normal part efficiency it negatively affects healthy pawns but may benefit injured or unhealthy ones.
Acquisition
Prosthetic hearts can be crafted on a Machining table. They require 25 steel, 4 components and a crafting skill of 5.

Analysis
Installing a prosthetic heart will instantly cure any artery blockages and prevent heart attacks from any source, including drugs. It can thus be useful on old or drug-using pawns. However the decrease in blood pumping has a number of carry-on effects including a Move Speed reduction of 7.5% (the same as a prosthetic leg), and a 4% reduction in Consciousness, Manipulation, Talking, and Eating. Additionally, they require 6% more sleep due to the 94% Rest Rate Multiplier. The reduction in consciousness and manipulation mean than that almost all tasks will be completed slightly slower. The result is also a 20.3% reduction in a healthy pawn's character value, if you're concerned about slave value.
Installing a prosthetic heart on a healthy patient will yield a normal Heart. Normal organ harvesting penalties apply when harvesting a heart in this way. However, it used to be possible to harvest better organs this way without killing them and without mood or reputation penalties.
On the plus side, prosthetic hearts provide a fairly cheap (25 steel, 4 components per heart) method of harvesting one of all harvestable body parts. Just remember to harvest the Liver last and that you cannot reclaim the heart from a lifeless corpse
While it does provide a buff to pawns with the Body modder trait, its negative effects on healthy pawns means it should be passed over for other, less detrimental prostheses.
Installing the prosthetic heart requires a medicine skill of 4. If the installation surgery fails, there is a 25% chance that the patient dies. Thus, there is always at least a 0.5% chance of death when installing.
