Remote shielder
An implant which increases the speed at which a mechanitor can repair a mechanoid. This does not affect the overall energy needed to repair a mechanoid.
The implant allows the mechanitor to plug in directly with the mechanoid while they are repairing it. This allows them to more quickly understand the mechanoid's injuries, and better-direct the mech's self-repair mechanites to assist with the repair.
This implant can be self-installed in the same way as the mechlink.
This implant can be installed up to 6 times to increase its effect.

Repair probes are artificial body parts added by the Biotech DLC that increase the rate at which mechanitors repair their mechanoids.
Acquisition
Repair probes can be crafted at a Machining table once the Ultra mechtech research project has been completed. They require 1 Nano structuring chip, 2 Advanced components, 3,200 ticks (53.33 secs) of work, and a Crafting skill of 6.
Summary
This section is a stub. You can help RimWorld Wiki by expanding it. Reason: Order of operations. |
Each repair probe increases Mech Repair Speed of the implanted mechanitor by +33%. Up to 6 repair probes can be installed. Each probe stacks additively as if it were +33.3̅3̅%, with the end result rounded down.
Num. Probes |
Mech Repair Speed |
---|---|
1 | +33% |
2 | +66% |
3 | +100% |
4 | +133% |
5 | +166% |
6 | +200% |
Installation
This section is a stub. You can help RimWorld Wiki by expanding it. Reason: Written from memory. Verification, expansion, and clarity needs work. |
Unlike most other artificial body parts, the repair probe is not installed via an operation. Instead, the selected mechanitor can be selected to use the device on themselves, consuming the item and installing it.
Analysis
This section is a stub. You can help RimWorld Wiki by expanding it. Reason: Some numbers on how much time is saved repairing would be useful. |
Repair probes use a valuable nano structuring chip. Making a repair probe should be weighed against making mechlord armor, a wastepack atomizer, or your own war queen. Making a mechlord suit, in order to have 2 centipedes, is most likely better than having 1 centipede repaired 33% faster. The advanced components could also be used for bionics. If you have a surplus of chips and components, then repair probes are ultimately a buff to your mechanitor.
Usually the time taken to repair after battle isn't a big issue. Sees use with the remote repairer, as this implant makes it easier to repair mechs during battle.
