This article relates to content added by Anomaly (DLC). Please note that it will not be present without the DLC enabled. |
Metalblood heart
A special bioferrite prosthetic that can pump a small amount of metalblood into a ghoul's bloodstream, making it more resistant to damage for a short period of time. Metalblood also makes the ghoul more vulnerable to fire. The prosthetic causes widespread swelling, slowing the ghoul down.
Due to the extremely painful nature of the prosthetic, only ghouls can tolerate this enhancement.

A metalblood heart is an artificial body part added by the Anomaly DLC that acts as a replacement for a ghoul's heart. It gives a ghoul the ability to become more resistant to damage for a short period of time at the cost of move speed and a vulnerability to fire damage.
Acquisition
Metalblood hearts can be crafted at a bioferrite shaper once the ghoul enhancements research project has been completed. Note that this research requires dark study to unlock. Each requires 20 Bioferrite, 1 Component, 13,200 ticks (3.67 mins) of work modified by the general labor speed of the crafter, and a crafting skill of 4.
It can sometimes spawn on hostile ghouls,[Starter colonist?] however they cannot be harvested from them.

Use the metalblood heart to release metalblood serum into the bloodstream, reducing incoming damage for a short period of time.
— Metalblood injection description
The metalblood heart is a ghoul exclusive body part. It has a part efficiency of 100%. This fully replaces the functionality of a normal heart but provides no statistical enhancement - when coupled with the heart body part having a Blood Pumping importance of 100%, it results in a directly proportional increase in blood pumping when replacing a heart with impaired efficiency. Blood pumping, in turn, affects Moving. Moving, in turn, affects the following stats: Hunting Stealth, Melee Dodge Chance, Move Speed. For further details, see those pages.
Pawns with the heart installed have access to the "Metalblood injection" ability while drafted. The injection must be manually initiated by the player through use of a gizmo available while the ghoul is drafted and selected. Colonist ghouls will never independently use the injection. It is currently unknown whether NPC ghouls will use the ability.[Detail needed]
The injection lasts for 2,400 ticks (40 secs) and provides the same "Metalblood" effect as metalblood serum, namely:[Stacking?]
- ×50% Incoming Damage Multiplier, stacking multiplicatively with our sources such as the Tough trait.
- ×400% Flame damage
- ×400% Burn damage
The injection has a cooldown of 15,000 ticks (6 in-game hours).
Finally, the metalblood heart inflicts a −0.20 c/s penalty to move speed - this applies at all times, not just while the metalblood injection ability is active.[Verify]
Installation
This section is a stub. You can help RimWorld Wiki by expanding it. Reason: Missing data, also Anesthetic?. |
The metalblood heart can only be installed in ghouls. Note that despite the description noting pain as the reason it cannot be installed in other pawns, methods of pain nullification such as painstoppers do not allow the hearts installation into other pawns.
Installing the part requires ? of work, ?x medicine of ? quality or better, and a Medical skill of 4.
Removing the part requires ? of work, ?x medicine of ? quality or better, and has no Medical skill requirements.[Verify?]
If the operation fails, the part will be destroyed.
