Odyssey is an exploration themed DLC for RimWorld that introduces new Biomes, Gravships, Landmarks, Weapons, Quests, and over 40 new Animals. It was released on July 11th 2025.
Description[edit]
Build your own gravship
Build your own ship and travel across the planet! Land anywhere you want to hunt for treasure, harvest food and fuel, and bring back souvenirs like exotic birds, long-forgotten gravtech, or a gold-plated charge rifle.
Explore new biomes and landmarks
In the glowforest, bioluminescent mushrooms and psychedelic spores glow in the permanent darkness. Geothermal vents belch sulfur. Normal plants can’t grow here - you’ll need to survive on fungi alone. Dig a sprawling colony into the rockface of cliffs, chasms, crevasses, and valleys for natural defenses - an undergrounder’s dream!
Survive beyond the atmosphere
Fly your gravship into orbit! Land on collapsed orbital platforms, ore-rich asteroids, and hollowed-out satellites. Search through the debris for treasure, but be prepared for a fight with other orbital scavengers. Mechanoid wrecks promise advanced gravtech and resources for your ship, if you can make it past their ancient, inhuman defenses.
Cute, terrifying, and intelligent wildlife
Odyssey adds over 40 new animals that can be tamed, trained, traded, or eaten. Watch your colorful flock of sparrows and bluebirds take flight, raise a hunting pack of scimitar cats and great wolves, go swimming with seals and otters, or just keep the cutest ones as pets, like porcupines and prairie dogs.
Quests across the planet and beyond
You'll discover quests from ancient maps, passing visitors, and anonymous signals.
Gravship[edit]
Players will be able to build their own ships which can be used to explore both the planet and locations in orbit. Ship designs require maintaining appropriate temperature and oxygenation while ensuring that colonists won't be exposed to the vacuum of space. Most gravtech devices require gravplates.
New Biomes[edit]
- Glowforest: A fungal-themed biome plunged into permanent darkness by the spores released by local mushrooms and the sulfur released by geothermal vents.
- Scarlands: War-torn remnants of cities featuring craters, vents that release heat and gas, and constant toxic rain. Mechanoids stalk the ruins and the only surviving animals are dangerous mutants.
- Grasslands: A ranching-focused biome with long growth periods, few trees, and strong winds that boost wind turbines. Vulnerable to droughts and brushfires.
- Glacial plains: A biome with blizzards, prehistoric-feeling wildlife, buried frozen ruins, and ice.
- Lava fields: Lava threatens to swallow up animals, buildings, and colonists alike. Volcanic debris crash down from the sky, and thick ash makes it hard to breathe. Barriers can be built to divert lava.

Underground[edit]
Now with Rimworld Odyssey, you can now head underground. The doors of the new ancient stockpiles can be hacked to gain entry. But the process takes days if not more. In the underground you will stumble upon doors that require hacking and new insect species to fight. If you are lucky, you will eventually find a room that has a gravcore.
Music[edit]
This expansion includes a new album by Alistair Lindsay, composer of the RimWorld soundtrack.
