Elephant leather is the tied 6th most protective textile against sharp and blunt, and tied 3rd against heat. While it is not a good insulator, it is a very good candidate for [[duster]]s and protective clothing in the early game in [[biomes]] that don't experience temperature extremes. However it should be replaced by better materials such as [[Devilstrand]] in the mid-game, with dusters receiving priority. As it provides enough sharp protection for even [[pants]] and [[button-down shirt]]s to have a chance to stop attacks, it can be valuable to transition to using elephant leather for those items to save limited stocks of better materials for dusters where they will have more impact while still providing some chance to deflect a blow after AP. The exceptional amount of leather that a single [[elephant]] provides mean that as single manhunter [[event]] can produce a lot of leather for this purpose as well.

Elephant leather is a type of leather produced when a cook butchers an elephant at a butcher table.

Acquisition[edit]

The following animals provide elephant leather.

  • Animal Leather Yield
    Elephant 160
  • Usage[edit]

Elephant leather can be used to craft and build the following things:

  • Product Ingredients Type [Expand]
  • Analysis[edit]

Elephant leather ties with bearskin for 6th most protective textile against sharp and blunt, and 3rd against heat. They are very good candidates for dusters and other protective clothing - especially in temperate biomes.

But even elephant leather should be replaced by better materials, like devilstrand, once available. Dusters and other protective apparel receive priority; using the best textiles on dusters has the most impact on protection. If limited on better material, you can use excess elephant leather for pants or button-down shirts.

For use in furniture, it has a middle-of-the-road beauty factor. But more beautiful textiles, like thrumbofur, are in high demand as clothing. So, once elephant leather is made redundant for clothing, it is a decent choice for furniture beauty.
