Jackets are a middle ground between a duster and a parka, best suited to moderately cold biomes not extreme enough to require parkas.

Acquisition[edit]

Jackets can be crafted at a hand tailor bench or electric tailor bench once the Complex clothing research project has been completed. Each requires Stuff 70 Stuff (Leathery/Fabric) and 7,000 ticks (1.94 mins) of work modified by the general labor speed of the crafter and the work to make factor of the material.

They can also be purchased or stripped from Outlanders and Pirates. Starting colonists may also spawn wearing a synthread jacket.

Analysis[edit]

Overall, jackets are a middle-ground between dusters and parkas; requiring fewer resources and less work to craft, but offering less value in either extreme cold or extreme heat. In warm biomes, dusters are almost always more useful, since dusters cover more body parts and do a better job protecting from heat. In extremely cold biomes, parkas are often required to deal with ultra-low temperatures.

In moderately cold biomes though, jackets can be preferable to parkas in some cases. Jackets offer better armor than parkas while requiring fewer materials, so if you can get good enough insulation from the cold using jackets you're usually better off doing so.

    Ideoligions allow the selection of styles which then change the texture of the certain items and buildings when constructed by the colony. These style variants can be crafted if the colony has the selected style, or can be looted from raiders from factions with the requisite style.
