Acquisition[edit]
| This section is a stub. You can help RimWorld Wiki by expanding it. Reason: Spawn on cultists?. |
Ritual masks can be crafted at a bioferrite shaper once the Bioferrite shaping research project has been completed. Note that this research requires dark study to unlock. Each requires
25 Bioferrite and 3,000 ticks (50 secs) of work modified by the general labor speed of the crafter.
Summary[edit]
In addition to minor head protection, a ritual mask increases the pain shock threshold of its wearer by +15%, allowing its wearer to take more pain before being downed.
At the time of writing, the ritual mask is the only item with the "Bioferrite" stuff tag. This technically makes the mask stuffable but forces only one option for the crafting material. This is done to allow the mask to benefit from the following psychic buffs afforded to stuffable items made of bioferrite:
Equipped items stuffed from bioferrite including the mask apply a multiplier to the wearer's psychic sensitivity. These multipliers stack multiplicatively with one another and with other bonuses from eltex
items [Prestige?]
| Quality | Awful | Poor | Normal | Good | Excellent | Masterwork | Legendary |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Psychic Sensitivity | ×1.06 | ×1.08 | ×1.1 | ×1.13 | ×1.15 | ×1.17 | ×1.20 |
For example, a pawn with a base psychic sensitivity of 100%, a psychic sensitizer,
a normal eltex shirt,
and a bioferrite item of normal, good, and excellent quality, would result in a psychic sensitivity of:
| Psychic sensitivity = ((100% + 25%) + 8.3%) * 1.1 * 1.13 * 1.15 = 191% |
Equipped items stuffed from bioferrite apply an offset to both neural heat limit and neural heat recovery rate,
which stacks additively. Note that the heat limit bonus stacks with the bonus to the limit from the increased psychic sensitivity, however due to the sensitivity bonus' multiplicative nature the total bonus cannot be easily quantified without assuming what other bonuses to sensitivity a pawn may have.
| Quality | Awful | Poor | Normal | Good | Excellent | Masterwork | Legendary |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Neural Heat Limit | 4 | 6 | 8 | 11 | 13 | 15 | 18 |
| Neural Heat Recover Rate | 0.04 | 0.04 | 0.04 | 0.04 | 0.04 | 0.04 | 0.04 |
Analysis[edit]
| This section is suggested to be rewritten. Reason: Cleanup, expansion. You can help the RimWorld Wiki by improving it. |
The ritual mask serves as an excellent early game full-head-coverage armor piece. It's directly better than items like a visage mask
for its increase to pain shock threshold and added psychic sensitivity. A simple helmet for example has better stats in general but, unlike the ritual mask, doesn't cover the entire head.
For a psycaster,
it's a cheap and highly efficient alternative to eltex
headgear, especially for its competent protection.
In terms of armor, if your colony is in possession of enough devilstrand or hyperweave, it's recommended that you instead use a ceremonial hood, although the ceremonial hood comes without the increased pain shock threshold and psychic sensitivity.
