The gas mask is a piece of apparel added by the Biotech DLC.

Acquisition

Gas masks can be crafted at a Machining table once the Machining research project has been completed. They require 20 Steel, 20 Chemfuel and 6,000 ticks (1.67 mins) of work.

Summary

A gas mask gives +80% Toxic Resistance, which reduces the impact of tox gas, rot stink, and toxic buildup.

Analysis

For many purposes, such as against rot stink, a face mask's 50% toxic resistance is sufficient. As face masks don't cover the head, simple helmets and flak helmets can be used alongside it.
