Kid helmet

Kid helmet

A simple helmet sized for children. It gives moderate protection against sharp attacks. Not effective against blunt weapons. That said, if this is being used in combat something has already gone very wrong.

The kid helmet is a headgear apparel added by the Biotech DLC.

Acquisition[edit]

Kid helmets can be crafted at a fueled smithy or electric smithy once the smithing research project has been completed. Each requires Stuff 20 Stuff (Metallic, 200 for SMVs) and 2,000 ticks (33.33 secs) of work modified by the general labor speed of the crafter and the work to make factor of the material.

Summary[edit]

The kid helmet is a child-sized version of the regular simple helmet, meaning it can only be worn by pawns under 13.

Analysis[edit]

As technically the only armor available for children, the kid helmet offers superior protection from damage to the head compared to anything else. This makes it an excellent choice for preventing nasty booboos. Due to the low body part HP of children, even a bullet blocked by armor is likely to kill. But a kid helmet is better than nothing, and steel helmets are relatively affordable.

In hot biomes, you may prefer headgear like the cowboy hat, which protects against warmer temperatures. Similarly, a tuque can be good for its cold insulation.
